Morning all,

A sad farewell to Gavin as Chairman on Friday :o (

Although a warm welcome to Mike Nightgale :o ) who has taken up the reins and most definitely inspires confidence that the good work will continue.

Also a couple of other changes – Kirsty Joly has joined the committee along with myself.

Many thanks to Paul for a very informative and surprisingly up beat 10 mins presentation about Sherrards Solicitors.

Don’t know your thoughts but I feel it would be good to share the success on recent referrals at next weeks meeting. Have a think about how we can capture progress / new orders and still keep on track with the timings.

Regards.

Full house again with 7 absences & 6 subs.

Specific referrals asked for:

Jamie Denham – Business Development contact at banks – size not important. Lewis Malka – Events organisers. He is doing 200 small silver keys for one client – not likely to be thrown away! Alexis – Head teachers and other highly-stressed people for wellness programmes. Maurice Press mentioned that there are about 550,000 partially sighted people in the UK! Brought the house down when Mike Segall gave a him a kiss (all arranged beforehand apparently!)

Mike Segall announced that August is his busiest month. Quite the opposite of what he thought the situation would be when he set up his marketing business. Another busy person was Karelia came back from 3 weeks holiday in Greece and was working every day except two! In the UK, property prices are UP 8-9 per cent in a year in Westminster and Chelsea although number of deals is down.

Martin Dunne wants us to think of him as an accountant who is a thinker rather than a churner – someone who churns out tax returns and that’s it. Justin is working on someone who is setting up a new TV channel.

Sub Joanna Davies (DRINK) has a niche with sorting out nightclubs & similar that are underperforming…interesting angle in the staid world of management consultancy. Sub Liz Sorton looking for local government grant or sponsorship for a youth project.

Kirsty’s 10 minutes great but too short. She asked us to have glasses of room temparature water so we could rinse our palates between samples. Cold water would just make fine chocolate taste waxy. Samples included: Lindt 70% chocy (slightly bitter); Cadbury’s Bourneville (ditto), Sainsbury’s own brand dark chocolate (sweetest and my favourite – 5 other people thought so too) and Lindt 85% (bitter again). 100% buttons were passed round and Maurice said he felt like swinging from the chandeliers. Kirsty does chocolate-making workshops and recently did an engagement party – the couple met after they had got “slaughtered” drinking cocktails, so the fillings naturally had a cocktail angle on them.

Yours truly will be away next 3 weeks as my daughter is getting married – my subs (inorder) will be: Joanna Davies (25th) Liz Sorton (1st) and Catherine Spode (8th)

For those of you who have lost count, this will be my seventh marathon. And I can tell you, it only gets harder!!! This year I have chosen a charity which I believe is a very worthy cause, and one I am going to support 100% for no other reason other than the amazing work they do and the help they need.

Get Kids Going! is a National charity which gives disabled children and young people – up to the age of 26 yrs – the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. I believe that disabled children deserve the best care and assistance that they can get, so why not try to provide them with the best foundations to help achieve that. Your donation will not be wasted, every penny counts, and is very much appreciated!

Please take a moment to go on-line to the website and donate over the web. It is the easiest way to do it and won’t take long. Furthermore, if you tick the box as a UK taxpayer, they will get tax relief on your donation which will add up to even more money.

Thank you very much for your support, warm wishes, Lewis

Morning all, I trust everyone had a good weekend. Another good meeting. I thought a number of the 60 sec presentations were very good. I am sure the referrals will follow as a consequence.

By the way a personal thanks to Lewis. Referral given at 8.30am at the meeting, by 1pm I had contacted the client and business was written. Thats what I call a referral. You see it does work this networking business.

Regards Mike.
