Going commando

Looks like the holiday season has now kicked in, a couple of missing faces but also plenty of guest subs including the Rev. Roderick Leece. Attendees of Mike Dodd’s 60 second perfection class last Friday were keen to show the value, first up was George Metcalfe explaining that you must ‘ask’ to get what you want and also ‘put yourself’ about a bit – so who do you know that needs a bit of encouragement coaching?

Richard from Splatt Print is having a well earned holiday whilst the pennies keep coming in via his £1m web to print ordering system. Mike Jenning from Avenue was subbing for Christian from Danesoft. Paul Marmor attended on behalf of Sherrards Solicitors.

Louise from Delfont Mackintosh Theatre’s had obviously been very attentive at Mike Dodd’s class, and opened her 1-minute by waking up the group and letting us know she had ‘come commando’ (like below). Unfortunately I was so bemused by this image, that I failed to log the rest of her speech.. not sure that’s what she intended. Anyway she’s offering upgrades or something for tickets to DMT’s stunning shows – I think.

“I eat Green Berets for breakfast. And right now, I’m very hungry!”

George Emsden from In2 is trying to get in with the ladies and is looking for speaking opportunities at the Women’s Institute, so if anyone can help there, please let him know. Mike Nightingale from Green Park Insurance is a very thorough Insurance Broker!

After 3-weeks away it was nice to be back, we are busy with lots of projects over at Sliced Bread Animation. This week we are looking for introductions to companies who would like use a game as a marketing tool (this includes iPhone apps).

Roy Duncan from RG Duncan Accountancy Recruitment is looking to place his pool of high quality Financial Controllers. Whilst resident copywriter Caroline Hampsted has become somewhat of a ‘fabricater’, her brochure for Islington Council lets kids know that the best place to go this summer is.. the library(!), she’s looking for introductions to advertising and web design agencies.

[BIG SMILER] Kirsty ‘Jolly’ (deliberate mistake) from the delicious chocolate making company Perfectly Tempered, told us a story of a special bespoke ‘Russian Doll’ piece she might be doing for a PR agency.. she’s looking for introductions for more of the same.

Nigel Hakkak of Redbrick Financial Solutions has turned his hand from mortgages to marriage guidance by helping a couple find finance for extension to their home. Thus moving the husband’s clothing business out, and the love back in.

Justin Beavis from Unvisited World, was the 10-minute speaker this week, personally I was extremely impressed by the team he has on board. Certainly expecting great things from these guys in the world of leisure attraction.

That’s it from me, just a reminder if you are planning a holiday please ensure your company is still represented at the meeting. Ask David Coburn for a latest subs list and if you need help on getting the most out of your sub, have a listen to Johnny’s podcast for some useful tips.

  1. … and Johnny Mindlin from Green-Shoot was also there, subbing for Hiten Thaka of Revolution Design Agency.
Hiten was looking for companies that need their image updated or new companies looking to set out their band clearly … and Johnny was offering BRX members a BOGOFF (buy one get one for free) on video client testimonials.

    Morning Campers,

Always good to read the blog – well done Jamie

I also wanted to raise awareness about a networking opportunity – especially for us creative types but all are welcome!

See below link – If you want to attend then just send a note to Samantha and mention me (or not if you want to get in!)
